Joel Smukowski, MD

Dr.  Joel Smukowski has served as a member of the ConsensioHealth Board of  Directors since 2019, bringing a strong background in clinical operations,  physician leadership, and entrepreneurial business experience. He has been a  practicing emergency physician with Emergency Medicine Specialists (EMS)  since 1998 and has held a variety of leadership roles within EMS, including  committee service, medical direction of multiple emergency departments, and  prior service as a member of the EMS Board of Directors. In addition to his  clinical leadership, Dr. Smukowski has pursued a range of nonmedical business  and entrepreneurial endeavors that inform his strategic perspective. He is a  valuable board member who leverages his diverse experience to think  creatively about business practices and to ensure ConsensioHealth continues  to employ best-in-class strategies in support of independent, physician-led  practices.
